Panic stations ahoy!
Arrived with plenty of time to spare, though with the tour carrying two top of the range 'Beat The Street' busses, plus a forty foot articulated lorry; it meant we were carrying a very hefty amount of production too. In actual fact, an additional eighteen crew to accommodate bringing in our own lighting rig and full PA spec. And that's without mentioning the performance-based theatrics of a twelve foot tall, fully articulated puppet, living gargoyles, aerial performer, angle grinders, projection screens, ramps and the usual massive light show.
So, panic stations it is when all this is being tried and tested for the first time this evening: Crew and Cradle or, even at times both melding into a simple Crewdle; flitting around like proverbial shitseekers at a dung beetle convention. Bit of a shit analogy I realise, but I'm writing this before two o'clock the following afternoon... so please do give me a break, it's not all plaques and hams on the road.
Kept out of the way for the best part of the day, basically perusing the local music and comic stores with Sarah and replacement bassist scum Charles... and when Sarah decided to call it a day, the two of us were invited to some local rock stores to browse and scam some free stuff (which, of course is always a boost to one's day).
The nicest gift was one that was made to me of a Dani Filth Living Dead Doll, replete with death certificate (well, it might come in useful on this length of tour...) and poetry, stage clothing and realistic corpse-like features. And it all was roughly about the same dimensions, especially in this cold.

Deicide est le quatrième groupe fondateur de la scène death metal américaine (aux côtés de Death, Morbid Angel et Obituary). Le groupe se démarque de ses pairs par son image, bien plus violente: on traite ici de satanisme pur, d'annihilation des chrétiens, et d'autres sujets tout aussi pacifiques... La musique du groupe est elle aussi bien différente, extrêmement malsaine (notamment grâce aux voix démoniaques du leader Glen Benton, doublées black/death en studio, et trafiquées à la manière des voix des démons dans les films Evil Dead, on note d'ailleurs une référence à ce film dans la chanson Dead by dawn).
Le premier album éponyme de Deicide est un brûlot de haine et de brutalité, alliées à la technicité de ses membres. Le groupe a par le passé fait plus parler de lui par ses démélés avec d'autres groupes ou avec des sociétés protectrices des animaux (Deicide ayant pris l'habitude de jeter des morceaux d'animaux morts sur son public), ainsi que par les agissements de son chanteur Glen Benton (une croix inversée scarifiée sur le front, etc...).
En 2004, les frères Hoffman, guitaristes, quittent le groupe. Les raisons évoquées varient, et ce serait apparemment dû au comportement de Glen Benton qui selon les déclarations des deux frères "n'est pas un vrai sataniste, il ne croit pas en ses paroles et s'est même marié dans une église". Ils seront remplacés par Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) et Dave Suzuki (Vital Remains). Glen Benton et les frères Hoffman sont actuellement en conflit sur le plan juridique, chacun voulant récupérer les droits sur le nom de groupe, on peut donc s'interroger sur l'avenir de
